Sydney Bush Walkers are Back on Track!

The SBW Walks Program resumed in May and is returning to normal as National Parks reopen  more bushfire affected areas. Overseas and interstate trips are still on hold.

Information Nights resumed in July but numbers are limited  due government restrictions. You must register to attend. The Basic Skills Workshops have resumed, again with limited numbers . The next is likely to be in September. Social Nights  are still not possible.

Are Sydney Bush Walkers Right for You?

You like a challenge and can handle the tough stuff ?

The qualifying requirements for full membership include completing two day walks with at least six hours walking duration and some element of difficulty like rough terrain or a big climb. You must also complete an overnight walk, camping and carrying a pack, usually in rugged country.

You will also need to show you are ready to tackle a Qualifying walk before you can be accepted on one.

SBW is more selective than many other clubs but you can give yourself a big pat on the back when you achieve full membership status.

It has been that way since 1927 when foundation members like Myles Dunphy and Paddy Pallin created a club with a strong tradition of adventure.
