Becoming a prospective member

The minimum age to join up as an individual is 16 years. You join up as a new member for a “prospective” period of 1 year. The cost is $50 for the full 12 months, this includes a quarterly activity program and our monthly magazine “The Sydney Bushwalker”.

Family or couples sharing the same address and who join at the same time can join for a cost of $73.

Every individual planning to join, whether as a single or as part of a couple/family must complete a membership form.

Steps in becoming a prospective member

  1. Complete the membership form.
  2. Upon receipt of your membership form, you will receive the Walks Programme, New Members Information booklet together with your receipt.
  3. You can attend the training evening held every second Wednesday of the month, where we will get you ready for your first weekend walk. We also encourage you to attend the Prospective members training weekend held once a quarter.
  4. Book on a walk by calling the trip leader listed on the walks program. Let him or her know that you are new to the club. He or she will advise you of meeting arrangements and can assist with transport if required.

The sooner you take the step of contacting a trip leader to go on your first activity the sooner you will start to benefit from the experience of our activity leaders, so don’t delay.
