Becoming a full member

You are registered as a new member for 12 months from your joining date. If you wish to become a full member of SBW we ask that you fulfill a few qualifying criteria in these 12 months.

To qualify for full membership you need to have completed the following:

Two “Qualifying” day walks (Medium grade or higher)
One “Qualifying” overnight walk (Medium grade or higher)
An informal oral test in basic navigation and basic first aid skills (all notes and education provided, if you have a current and valid 1st Aid certificate the test is not necessary).

We strongly advise that you don't over extend yourself on your first walk. Only attempt “Qualifying” walks after a period of gaining some solid bushwalking experience.

Once the above requirements are completed, contact the New Members Secretary to complete the full membership application form. This form will be presented to the committee for final acceptance. Application for full membership is $45 per person or $73 per household adjusted if you complete the criteria in less than 12 months.

Annual membership cost thereafter is $45 per annum (Subject to change on an annual basis only).
