Why do you bush walk?


I bushwalk for fun and friendships.

When did you join SBW?

First briefly joined sbw in mid 1970s and then in approx 1995



What's your favourite piece of gear in your pack and why?

My trekking poles


What is the average weight of your overnight pack, without water?

Between 8 and 10 kilos.


What's one piece of advice you can offer new walkers that you wish you knew when you started?

Advice that wish I first knew is to use trekking poles (to save your knees).

A memorable walk?

Kokoda (my and Michele's honeymoon).


What kind of walks do you like?

I like walks that are off track and/or rough track.


Do you have a walks philosophy or motto?

One of my philosophies is to, if possible and/or applicable, walk early so as to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Any other passions/interests?

My current other interests are sea kayaking and surf boarding.

New Members Information Nights are held every month except January, at 16 Fitzroy Street Kirribilli, 7:30pm - 8:30 pm on the second Wednesday the month.
