Why do you bush walk?

A good view. It also happens to be really good exercise.

When did you join SBW?

2015

What's your favourite piece of gear in your pack and why?

My mug...a little luxury. I like drinking my coffee/wine out of a cup. It also doubles as a measuring cup to avoid cous cous soup.

What is the average weight of your overnight pack, without water?

Probably about 11 kg.

What's one piece of advice you can offer new walkers that you wish you knew when you started?

Don't rush into buying a heap of gear. Ask others what they have and the pros/cons. When it comes to lightening your pack...a lot can be saved by not carrying things you don't need.

A memorable walk?

My first trip to Ettrema. Two memorable points: 1) it is spectacular and 2) it involved sleeping in the creek under a huge boulder. I had a blast!

What kind of walks do you like?

Ones with a bit of everything (eg single track, off-track, scrambling) to keep it interesting. Also, walks that involve eating the three C's (chips, cheese, chocolate) around a campfire.

Do you have a walks philosophy or motto?

"Don't be a fair weather walker" ie don't let the rain stop you from walking. 9/10 the weather clears up before the walk starts, if it doesn't then it adds something different.

What's on your walking wish list?

Nepal, New Zealand, Western Arthurs.

Any other passions/interests?

Food...eating not cooking. Reading. Food.
