About eight years ago.

My Topo Map and Gloves for scree descents.

What is the average weight of your overnight pack, without water?

About 10 kg, nowadays not so fanatical about ultra lightweight.

What's one piece of advice you can offer new walkers that you wish you knew when you started?

Do not waste your money on Hiking Boots - decent trainers are perfect.

A memorable walk?

A few route finding walks and three failed attempts at the Horrible Three Peaks  (Mt  Paralyser is not on my Christmas card List).

What kind of walks do you like?

Day Walks or Overnight in Wild Dogs, Kanangra or Jamison valley.

Do you have a walks philosophy or motto?

Get cracking early and have short stops - it is not the speed you walk, but the time you waste which makes the difference.

Multi Day walks in NZ and TAS

Any other passions/interests?

Sport Politics Philosophy.
