Why do you bush walk?


Because its fun (well mostly), it clears the head and nothing beats looking at a billion stars above.


When did you join SBW?



What's your favourite piece of gear in your pack and why?

Map (I'm old fashioned).


What is the average weight of your overnight pack, without water?

10-12 kg plus liquids of all kinds.


What's one piece of advice you can offer new walkers that you wish you knew when you started?

If you are new to walking then start with some easier walks. Don't have to do the Q walks first up.

A memorable walk?

First trip to Kakadu (2011). Way exceeded my expectations.


What kind of walks do you like?

All kinds really but have taken to long-distance walking.


Do you have a walks philosophy or motto?

Take the time to observe and listen to whats around you. I learn something new about the bush every time I go on a walk.

What's on your walking wish list?

Finishing the last leg of the Australian Alps Walking Track (Walhalla to Mt Hotham), 'Lost World' (Border Ranges of NSW/Qld), doing more walking in Japan, Europe and NZ.


Any other passions/interests?

Film, yoga, meditation, environmental issues and reading of all kinds

New Members Information Nights are held every month except January, at 16 Fitzroy Street Kirribilli, 7:30pm - 8:30 pm on the second Wednesday the month.

Are you a Prospective Member and have completed your Qualifying (Q) day walks and overnight trip as well as the first aid and navigation training requirements? If yes, then you're eligible to become a Full Member!
