Why do you bush walk?

To understand better those bits of the world that are extra ordinary, and not reached in day to day life.

When did you join SBW?

Around 2014

What's your favourite piece of gear in your pack and why?

My packable movie theatre [also a work in progress, but not helping with weight reduction].

What is the average weight of your overnight pack, without water?

15 to 16kg but that is under review hopefully downwards.

What's one piece of advice you can offer new walkers that you wish you knew when you started?

Bushwalking fitness is unlike any other sort of fitness - it is a non-transferable quality, hard won and has little to do with other activities.

Walk lots and often; lots of sessions are much more valuable than one off monster efforts in terms of duration or level of exertion.

A memorable walk?

Anything the indigenous folk would have loved.

What kind of walks do you like?

On ridges with stunning views; great companions also make for great enjoyment.

Do you have a walks philosophy or motto?

Smell the roses; pause often and observe.

What's on your walking wish list?

The Kimberleys (this June) - South America and Japan (on bucket list).

Any other passions/interests?

Anything with 2 wheels, and as a logical extension, the overthrow of oppressive regimes.
