Discussion Forums Forum - here you will find discussions on gear, food, routes and regions. Originally focused on Tasmanian bushwalking, it is now nationwide with 2750 members, including several SBW members.

Clubs & Associations

Bushwalking NSW (formerly the Confederation of Bushwalking Clubs of NSW) is the peak body representing bushwalking clubs in NSW. They also have an in depth FAQ on many aspects of bushwalking.

Bushwalking Australia is the representative organisation for all state associations/confederations. If you're looking for a club outside of NSW, check this out!

Northern Rivers Bushwalking Club - in September 2010, an informal affiliation was made between SBW and Northern Rivers Bushwalking Club in order to promote interaction for the mutual benefit of each club's members. Navigation Events

NSW Emergency Services Wilderness Navigation Shield - NavShield - organised by BWRS, this is the premier navigation event for bushwalking clubs and emergency services, held on the first weekend in July each year.

NSW Rogaining Association - rogaining is the sport of long distance cross country navigation. Events are typically from 6 to 24 hours, and are an excellent way of learning and practising your navigation

Sydney Summer Series - these are 45 minute events on Wednesday evenings where you navigate around the streets trying to score as many points as possible. Good for navigation under pressure.

Orienteering NSW - orienteering is a sport involving cross country running and navigation

The Next Social Night - Dog Sledding in Sweden - is on Wednesday 15 May 7.30 to 9pm. 

New Members Information Nights are held every second Wednesday of the month upstairs at 16 Fitzroy Street Kirribilli, 7:30pm - 8:30 pm. Just turn up.  Social nights are held every third Wednesday of the month at the same place 7:30pm - 9 pm.
